Lonely Musings

Pride Of Our Names

Succumb to all that I put
under my thumb now time for rum;
kick the can if you can
down the street if with feet you can run.

For I am ready steady and heavy
with toxins in my lungs.
Let’s tango with the cash you flash
if you think life’s a game won.

Games are to entertain the brain
and relax we can shoot shit.
But if in my realm of thought you
want to maintain then let’s sit.

Let the words of reason stew,
let the words of the Bible rule you
if you want to let them to,
I need bonds I can trust and renew.

If you want to tear me down
do it vicious let’s not mince words.
Show me your fire and ire now,
then let’s debate what’s absurd.

I want to your primal instinct
if you fit in with reason and logic
we can run to kick shit together
we can run and run thick.

I feel an appeal to softer sides
at times but don’t get me wrong.
I am a Mockingbird if I know you
we can dance and sing to different songs.

We can sip wine,
throw back Jack and Baccardi.
I know how to relax,
I know how to party.

I’ve seen lands full of tumult,
heard stories you’d not believe.
I’ve seen things none have seen,
my dream is your nightmare it seems.

So let’s understand pain,
where we can relate and abstain
from your childish games;
lets be the pride of our names.

The toxic baggage I have held
I sat down before the Lord.
I use my mind it’s a switchblade,
my tongue a sword.
