Lonely Musings

Hebrews Study (Christian Theology Summation of The Book Of Hebrews)

In the New Testament of the Holy Bible, in the Book of Romans it is written in Romans 5:18-20 (NASB)

“So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The Law came came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,…”

These passages can be generalized as a summation of God’s eternal gift of Salvation in the grace he bestowed on us in Christ Jesus’s obedience to Father God’s will as the ‘One’ who saved humanities transgressions from peril of man’s original sin in the Garden Of Eden.

Paul is undoubtedly the author of Romans. Yet another book of the New Testament that draws contrast between the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant in Christ is the Book of Hebrews in the New Testament.

There has been great dispute as to the author of Hebrews. Though many think it is Paul, my studies have led me to believe the author is Timothy, rather than Paul.

Paul and Peter were martryed in Rome between 64 and 67 A.D. Research has shown Hebrews was written after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in Rome after 70 A.D. There are indications that Hebrews was written from Italy, possibly Rome itself. Timothy had just been set free and the Book Of Hebrews speaks of men persecuted for their religion and praises it’s audience for their compassion for those suffering in prison.

Hebrews continually urges Christians to endure and many consider Hebrews as a single sermon. Therefore Hebrews is considered a sermonic letter. The letter of Hebrews speaks of the mediator of the new Covenant as Jesus Christ and the promised eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9 verse 15: ‘Therefore he is the mediator of a new Covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them.’

That death referring Christ Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God in human form that was made just a little lower the Angel’s before his crucifixion. Yet after his resurrection sat on the right hand of God, according to the beautiful sermonic letter of Hebrews in the New Testament. Romans speaks of our Salvation, where Hebrews begs us to endure.

Hebrews 10:16

16-THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM

AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD;

I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART,

AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM.
