In a land of confusion
the soil is tainted colors
I want to be on the open sea;
but fumes they me smother.
Perplexed and vexed
I stand and rocky ground.
I wanted a different life
from the one I have found.
Caring too much for
those who abandon me
as they pursue what they will,
fight I do a battle endlessly.
I can’t because I can
dream of a world gone by.
I reach for the stars,
where they are is so far I cry.
My purpose and my arms
hold only me in this endless sea blue.
I want the world to heal
I want to keep it from harm too.
A land of confusion
tainted by those who but hate
the ground they walk on
and throw stones at me to berate.
I’ll turn a cheek
like my Savior had taught.
Lord up above I am weak
when by this time I should be not.
