Lonely Musings

Where The Heart Lies

What was born in youth
passes away with mourning
and loss of innocence,
as the eyes wide open see clear.

Complicate and you will lose
the simplicity of God’s news,
that the hunger for knowledge
is lost, as faith is what I choose.

That I see, that I believe in mystery
upon the face of the world
that fell into our hands by Grace
is now being poisoned by our place.

The fractures in time give
sublime revelations; keep them
to ourselves and tell the hell
within to sin not again.

Open your eyes, be surprised
not at the disguise of ego.
For we know nothing and are
smaller than we know.

The loss of our dreams
it seems is a price to pay
for the day is full of peril;
on display is our ignorance.

We put forth a countenance,
dust the dirt off our shoulders.
It matters not the cost,
I must dream dreams forward.

Moving in time sublime,
bravado it is the display
to face the disgrace
I find sometimes soils my place.

Lost are the chances,
musical dances make me reach
for a hand to guide me;
so I might delight in what I breathe.

The air is polluted,
the heat tears at the skin.
Battle we the forces below
we ask for the Lord as a friend.

Remind us in echoes he does
the gift of his love.
His freedom he gives choices
and we hear the hurt in voices.

Discover in one another ways
the way we put each of us in a phase.
Where we pray for days thanks
that we have been lifted from haze.

Grateful we must be to see
the miracle of life and battle strife
inside our minds from the eyes
we interpret our own disguise.

Masks we wear they can’t hide
that the earth slowly dies.
The Lord gave us knowledge
but he knows where the heart lies.
